About Us  Welcome to the unofficial website of Fire Station 1 " The Hornets Nest " in Marion County Florida. We are 1 of 32 Fire Stations that proudly serve the citizens of Marion County. We are located in the North Central section of the county and cover a mixture of residential, light commercial buildings, hotels, schools, two major highways and a busy railway.    Fire Station 1 is staffed each day by six highly trained personnel who work 24 hours on with the following 48 hours off. Each shift consists of a lieutenant, a driver/engineer and 4 firefighters with at least 1 being a paramedic. All 18 members are state certified emergency medical technicians, 16 are cross trained as paramedics with 1 other in paramedic school. All 18 members are State certified Hazardous Materials Technicians.    Fire Station 1 is located in Marion County Fire Rescues North Battalion, District 1 along with Engine 19 and Rescue 19, Engine 11, Engine 2, and Engine 9 and Rescue 9. We also respond into District 2 with Engine and Rescue 4, Engine 28 and Rescue 28 and Engine 7 and District 4 with Engine 20 Rescue 20 and Squad 20.    Fire Station 1 is home of Hazmat 1 and almost half of MCFR'S Haz - Mat Team Members are assigned to the Station.
